Never has a show had such an effect on me, and it is with a heavy heart that I learned that Sleep No More would definitively lower the curtain on January 28, 2024, at the end of its 5,000th performance.
Sleep No More, last chance to witness an immersive experience like no other!
I had the chance to see Sleep No More in 2012, about a year after it opened on a dark Chelsea street. This show had such an impact on me that when Alex asked me to write an article for the blog, it was the first subject that came to my mind. In fact, if this is the first time you’ve heard about it, you can find out all about it Sleep No Moreits history, the special place it occupies on the New York show scene, and especially if it is a show made for you (because it is clearly not aimed at all audiences) by reading our dedicated article .
And if you are planning to go to New York before the end of January 2024, then you may have the opportunity to attend one of the last performances. The sessions of January 27 and 28 are already sold outbut there are still quite a few dates available on the official website.
What will become of the bar, the club, the rooftop…?
Sleep No More takes place in an event space called The McKittrick Hotel in reference to the film Vertigo d’Alfred Hitchcock (Cold sweat in French), but the place also has an excellent bar (The Manderley Bar) which is in its own way part of the show with its 1920s decor and absinthe cocktails, a club (The Club Car) which hosts various artistic performances (jazz concerts, magic, etc.), but also a very pretty rooftop bar and restaurant (Gallow Green). The question therefore arose whether these would also close, but this is not the case, they will remain open, and The McKittrick Hotel should host new seasonal events, which is necessarily good news (which unfortunately will not be enough to console myself).
The McKittrick Hotel & Sleep No More 530 West 27th Street.
Manderley Bar 532 West 27th Street.
The Club Car & Gallow Green 542 West 27th Street.
