This show was cherished for a long time, as it was originally conceived as an actor’s diploma work, but now it will be premiered as a full-fledged repertoire show, in which the “young blood” of the theater mostly participates – actors who graduated from the acting course of Stanislav Brok’s Daugavpils Music High School this summer. The participants of the performance had a unique opportunity to delve into Shakespeare’s work and learn the verses of this classic in the original language with the help of the British actor, teacher and researcher of Shakespeare’s works, Paul Goodwin. Paul Goodwin’s master classes in the Daugavpils Theater were implemented with the support of the “British Council” representative office in Latvia.
Oleg Shaposhnikov,
the director of the show
“During the last year, Paul Goodwin has given several master classes to the actors of the Daugavpils Theater. During these master classes, they worked on character analysis of the play “Macbeth”, stage speech, movement exercises. The lessons were held in English, and the results obtained in the master classes gave the impetus to stage Shakespeare’s Macbeth, keeping the sound of the play’s original language in the performance as well.”
Also, the director asks the audience not to be afraid of the English language.
Oleg Shaposhnikov,
the director of the show
“It will be a show with a special atmosphere – the audience will also look into the corners of the power-stunned mind through the body language of the actors. The sound of Shakespeare’s poetry in the original language will enrich the performance like beautiful music, but the text will not be decisive in the perception of what is happening.”
Macbeth believes the prophecy of the three witches that one day he will become king of Scotland. Lust for power gradually darkens his and his wife’s mind, and when the first dagger is covered with blood, there is no turning back – each subsequent step moves Macbeth closer and closer to his own destruction.
Miroslav Blakunov will play the role of Macbeth, the other roles: Artyom Afanasyev, Eduard Belnikov, Vanda Gibovska, Aleksandra Koguce, Agnese Laicāne, Alisa Matveyeva, Yevgenii Mihailov, Svetlana Morozova, Raymond Paegle, Luiza Prokofieva, Milena Savkina, Darya Shakalova, Mark Shelutko, Kristina Tishko , Vladislav Vasiliev.
