Butjadingen, OT Tossens, Solthörner Straße; Saturday, July 15, 2023, 10:10 a.m.

An 84-year-old car driver from Tossens initially hit his garage wall while reversing his car. Due to his physical limitations and visibly in shock, he shifted into forward gear, stepped on the accelerator and crossed the road, where he finally hit the wall of his neighbor’s house opposite. While trying to get out of this situation, he crashed his car into the wall of the house several times. The 84-year-old car driver was not injured. The car and the house were significantly damaged. According to initial estimates, property damage amounted to tens of thousands of euros. Due to the physical impairment of the person who caused the accident, the Oldenburg public prosecutor’s office ordered the confiscation of his driver’s license and initiated criminal proceedings.

At the time of the incident, a 31-year-old cyclist from the community of Butjadingen was riding on Atenser Allee in the middle of the road in heavy rain and had no lights on on his bike. A police check showed a breath alcohol concentration of 1.71 per mille. A blood sample was ordered to be taken and criminal proceedings were initiated.
