Alexandria Governorate recently witnessed heavy rainfall in several areas of the governorate, with active wind movement and a drop in temperatures.
The Alexandria Governorate Sanitation Company, headed by Major General Mahmoud Nafie, Chairman of the Sanitation Company’s Board of Directors, announced the lifting of the company’s state of emergency in preparation for the rain, according to the Meteorological Authority’s forecasts for the governorate to be exposed to moderate rain, which gradually increases to be moderate to heavy and sometimes thundery.
The Alexandria Sanitation Company added that the governorate will witness wind activity reaching speeds of 50-70 km/h, which will lead to disruption of maritime navigation, and wave heights in the Mediterranean Sea ranging from 3-5 metres.
The following actions were taken:
– The degree of preparations was increased, and water-lifting vehicles and suits were deployed
– Continuing the disinfection work of Al-Shanayesh, Al-Mawaqab and Al-Bayar
– Continuing the work of emptying the tanks of the lifting stations around the clock
– Monitoring bank levels around the clock.
– Stopping vacations, allowances, and rest breaks for all employees.
Major General Mahmoud Nafie stressed that the emergency room and the hotline 175 will continue to operate throughout the day to receive citizens’ complaints and work to solve them immediately. He noted the presence of sector heads and general managers in their work areas and to constantly check on the smooth progress of work, and to ensure that there are no problems with the networks, and to take action. necessary immediately if there are any complaints.
He emphasized full coordination with the holding company’s operations room, the governorate and district operations room, and all executive agencies, so that no Alexandrian citizen is harmed.
For his part, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, announced the suspension of classes today, Sunday, November 19, in all schools (governmental and private) and Al-Azhar institutes (students and teachers) within the governorate, due to bad weather conditions.
The governor issued instructions to grant employees appointed within the 5% percentage, as well as the female employee who cares for a child under the age of 12, exceptional leave tomorrow, Sunday, November 19.
Commanders, work crews and shifts are excluded from this, according to the needs determined by the directors of the various directorates and executive agencies.
This comes within the framework of ensuring that the concerned agencies and authorities have the opportunity to take all necessary measures and deal immediately with the repercussions of the unstable weather and the negative effects resulting from it, and to preserve the safety of citizens.
