She mentioned that she appreciates Kubišová’s courage: “When the Russians invaded us, I was a child, my mother showed me the National Museum scarred by the bullets of the aggressors and said: ‘They are the occupiers, but don’t say that anywhere.’ Marta said it out loud, her prayer became the prayer of the whole nation and mine. Another one of my beacons. She didn’t sell herself,” continued the actress Holubová.
For her, Kubišová is also an inspiration for her modesty and dignity: “Even today, I faint when I receive an SMS from her that starts with ‘Dear Evinka’.” Her modesty on the one hand and human dignity on the other, that’s what I’m trying to learn,” added Eva Holubová.
Holubová expressed her disappointment that the education and healthcare sectors are not flourishing as she had imagined after the Velvet Revolution. But he puts hope in the young generation and calls for “beating up the politicians”.
“There are new generations, let’s beat up all the beat up politicians with enthusiasm. You young and smart people replace all the political creatures who found themselves there after November and don’t know at all how we live. “Sweep out the lobbyists, profiteers, incompetent chatters, and then the government of your affairs will not return to you, O Czech people,” concluded Holubová.
However, some supporters of democracy cannot forgive Eva Holubová for her support of Petr Pavel in the presidential elections, because of his work in the Communist Party. They perceive similarly paradoxical behavior in Marta Kubišová, who appreciated his victory in the presidential elections and received a state award from him on October 28 this year.
