India and Australia are all set to meet in the ICC World Cup final on November 19, 2023. Aussie skipper Pat Cummins is confident of winning the final against India, who have dominated throughout the tournament. He also feels that his team does not need to be the best to beat their opponents.
‘We only had one good game against the Netherlands and the margin of victory was not big in the rest of the games and we will rectify that in the final. But we shouldn’t be too focused on defeating a team because that would mean we are on the run,” the Aussie skipper told the media.
The Aussie skipper had earlier said that the team XI had not even been finalized to compete against India. Cummins said that the eleven will be pitched only after understanding the pitch correctly.
The Aussie skipper is hoping that Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood will get off to a good start against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Both of them performed well in the second semi-final against South Africa.
“They performed well against South Africa. Josh and Starc are match winners. Their spells will be crucial for us against India,” he added.
When asked if he sees the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team as good, he hesitates to say that it is a good unit.
It’s a bit difficult to answer. We have played a lot of matches against them and got good results. “We are now up against a very good Indian squad,” he added.
In any case, both of them are very confident in the final mamangam that the world is waiting for. Let’s see who wins.
