“Wow! There was a lot of hair! What do you have in the baby food?”
The parents of five-month-old Millie Ray, Julia Zhou (34) and Alex Kwong (39) from Vancouver, Canada, can rarely move outside without being asked about little Millie’s hair.
– When she was born, she had several centimeters of hair all over her head. She looked like a Monchhichi, says mum Julia to the local newspaper Wales Online.
Monchhichi are Japanese dolls that are supposed to resemble monkeys, and were first launched in 1974.
According to the parents, people assume that their daughter is much older than five months, and they are often asked if they have worn a wig on her.

– People often ask if her hair is real. We usually joke that it’s a baby wig, says the mother.
She thinks her daughter has inherited dad Alex’s mane.
– We think it’s genetics. Alex was also born with a full weld, but still not nearly as much as Millie, she says.

Furthermore, the mother says that they have not done anything to the hair, other than washing it with water and shampoo for babies.
According to Wales Online, videos of Millie have gone viral on both TikTok and Instagram, with hundreds of thousands of views.
– We were surprised by how many people are fascinated by her. Every single comment has been about the hair – and all are positive, says Julia.
