(CNN) Israeli police believe at least 364 people were killed in an attack by the Islamic group Hamas on October 7th at a music festival near Israel’s southern border. Israeli media reported.

Officials had previously estimated the death toll at 270.

Israel’s Channel 12 News reported that it had obtained a copy of the first police report regarding the music festival attack, and presented some of the findings on its news program on the night of the 17th. A copy of the report itself was not shown.

Seventeen of the dead were police officers. Forty participants at a music festival were reportedly abducted and taken to the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian autonomous region.

The music festival was the site of the highest number of casualties on October 7, but police interrogated the captured militants and concluded that Hamas knew nothing about the festival at the time of the attack.

According to a report by Channel 12 News, the first call was received at 6:22 a.m. However, the first responders did not grasp the scale of the incident. Initial information suggested that only a few dozen terrorists crossed the fence from the Gaza Strip, but the actual number is believed to be well over 1,000.

According to reports, Israeli security forces sealed off the music festival venue at 3:30 p.m. This happened more than nine hours after the shooting began.

It is unclear whether the updated music festival death toll will have an impact on the total number of deaths. Officials put the total number of deaths at around 1,200.
