On Saturday, the Norwegian people will get to know Crown Prince Haakon (50) and Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) even better through the documentary series “The Crown Prince Couple – our Norway”.
Surprised everyone: – Clearly touched
Through the crown prince couple’s own perspective, viewers can see for the first time how they prepare for five trips in Norway as part of the couple’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

– Naturally
Se og Hør’s royal house expert Caroline Vagle is among those who have seen the first episode of the documentary series.
Ended it
– I have seen the first episode and liked it. The Crown Prince couple appear natural and relaxed, and I think people will like that. Perhaps especially seeing the tone between the two. Besides, you get an insight into how they work when they travel around Norway, and get to know a number of Norwegians who share their stories, she tells Dagbladet.
The royal house expert thinks it is positive that the Norwegian people get to know the country’s future king and queen better.

– I think it is only natural that such documentaries – and books – come out in connection with major anniversaries. The Crown Prince couple turned 50 this year.

In recent times, we have become better acquainted with several of the members of the royal family. Princess Märtha Louise (52) has had her own reality series on TV 2, “Märtha”, and is currently featured in “Jaget”. Daughters Maud Angelica (20) and Leah Isadora Behn (18) have each taken part in their own reality series, “Powerwomen” and “Cooking School”. The latter has also participated in “Kjendis AS”.
With the crown prince couple’s new series, roughly the whole family can be seen on the screen.
Harsh criticism: – Lack of judgement
– What do you think about this development?
– I don’t think this can be compared to the type of programs Princess Märtha Louise and her children take part in, which are reality shows. But then they don’t have an official role to manage either, Vagle believes.

Thorough security clearance
It was already in March that Dagbladet could reveal that the crown prince couple would get their own TV series. In April, it was confirmed that the series would appear on TV 2 during autumn 2023.
The series was created on the occasion of both Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit turning 50 this summer, and the viewers will, among other things, be able to take part in the big 50th anniversary celebration at the Palace on 25 August.

On several occasions this year, it has been noticed that the couple were followed by TV crews who have been far closer to the couple than other photographers.
The TV crew that followed them must therefore have been thoroughly security cleared in connection with the recordings. This is because the production team worked closer to the royals than anyone else.
Absent
Program editor at TV 2, Kathrine Haldorsen, has previously stated in a press release that she is looking forward to showing the exclusive series to the public.
– In this series, viewers rarely get close to the crown prince couple, and get to see things from the crown prince couple’s own perspective, without an official and formal form. The viewers thus get to know the crown prince couple in a way we have not seen before. And not least, the public gets to take part in the big 50th anniversary celebration that will take place later this summer, so this is something to look forward to, said Haldorsen when the news became known.
