NVIDIA’s next-generation GPU, GeForce RTX 5000 series Founders Edition (FE), which uses Blackwell architecture,It may be an unusual structure.
A normal grapho has the following structure.
normal grabo
It has a familiar configuration with a board and a GPU cooler on top.
However, according to hardware leaker kopite7kimi, GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition and GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition are as follows:It seems that the board will be placed on the side of the GPU cooler.
Structure of GeForce RTX 5090/5080 Founders Edition
(Sorry for my lack of artistic talent…)
If it is a normal graphics board, the graphics board will be at right angles to the motherboard. However, the GeForce RTX 5090 / RTX 5080 Founders Edition board is said to be parallel to the motherboard, with the board on the side of the GPU cooler.
You may think, “No, that’s not going to happen.” I feel the same way. Has there ever been a grapho of this type?
……Actually, there is. NVIDIA’s unreleased 4-slot Founders Edition, which was rumored to include the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti and TITAN Ada, uses the shape shown above.
NVIDIA unreleased 4-slot Founders Edition
kopite7kimistates that “The Founders Edition of GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will have this same structure.”
I’m not sure if that will actually happen. To be honest, I am skeptical about this leak by kopite7kimi. With this structure, the M.2 NVMe SSD is placed directly under the Grabo board, which seems to have a negative effect on the temperature of both the Grabo and the SSD. Also, it seems inevitable that it will be super large with 4 slots. (Probably won’t fit below 3 slots)
Considering these things, I think it is unlikely that this structure will be adopted in actual products, but what will happen?
