Young talent and youth basketball Bundesliga

After a weekend without games, BG Göttingen’s youngsters continue with a double pack at home. The Sartorius Youngsters are kicking off the Youth Basketball Bundesliga (JBBL/U16) on Sunday, November 19th, from 12 p.m., hosting the Mitteldeutsche Basketball Academy at their home Sartorius Basketball Lab. The Sartorius Juniors will then compete in the Junior Basketball Bundesliga (NBBL/U19) against the Basketball Löwen Erfurt from 4 p.m. (live on Sporttotal). Admission to both games is free.

For the youngsters, the game against MBA is the last home game in the JBBL preliminary round, which ends a week later. While the team of youngsters head coach Marjo Heinemann is still waiting for their first success, the offspring of SYNTAINICS MBC are still undefeated and have already qualified for the main round. Although there are still two games left, it is already clear that the BG youngsters will compete in the relegation round and the result against the Central Germans will not be taken into the next round. “The boys can prove themselves again against a team in the main round,” says Heinemann.

The still undefeated juniors start the second half of the NBBL main round against Erfurt. The physically superior Göttingen team won the first leg in Erfurt 109:75 thanks to an outstanding Janis Jünemann (32 points, 17 rebounds). Guard Lenni Kunzewitsch (21 points, 11 rebounds) and builder Musa Abra (15 points) were the best players for the home team. “We have to stop them both,” says Juniors head coach Venelin Berov, who is primarily concerned with the right attitude. “Where we are now, we have something to defend. Everyone wants to beat us. But we can’t think about our position in the table, because every game, every training session, every ball possession starts from zero. We have to continue to work on our rebounding, improve our turnover rate and definitely not underestimate the opponent.”
