New pavilion for the Faculty of Education Sciences – Quebec invests $19.2 million to train more teachers and education professionals at Laval University

In order to increase the number of graduates, particularly in teaching, and to offer the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University Laval modern facilities, the government of Quebec is investing $19.2 million for the construction of a new teaching pavilion as part of the project Bridge. The Minister of Higher Education, Mme Pascale Déry, and the Minister of Education, Mr. Bernard Drainville, made the announcement on November 16, accompanied by the rector of the University LavalMme Sophie D’Amours, and the dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the same university, Mme Anabelle Viau-Guay.

The new pavilion will accommodate 175 additional students in teaching, psychoeducation, guidance, sports intervention and school administration. The spaces will include active and collaborative learning rooms as well as practical work spaces, all in state-of-the-art facilities. There will also be pilot classes allowing real situations to be simulated with groups from schools in the region.

Students will be able to take advantage of these facilities from the start of the fall 2028 school year.

  • The project Bridge consists of constructing a new building of approximately 1 200 m2 in order to provide the Faculty of Educational Sciences with an educational environment adapted to the learner of the 21e century, promoting digital access, collaboration and active participation in learning.
