Here is all the information concerning the protection of minors in our diocese.
Efforts to change our ways of doing things have changed our habits and we must continue what has been started:
• Binomial
All people who work with minors must do so in pairs regardless of the type of meeting: catechism, group of altar servers, organ lessons, etc.
For catechism groups, the second adult is not necessarily a catechist, it can be a parent who accompanies the group for a given time (2 weeks, 1 month, 1 term, etc.). This is a very good opportunity to introduce other adults to the Christian faith. Some people take a liking to it and set off.
• EARS module (Effective Relational and Sexual Education)
This 3-hour module aims to help young people discover the beauty of the body and love, to think about the limits they can set in their relationships, to put words to situations they may have live, and finally to include these elements in God’s plan for each person.
Over the past 2 years, many young people have been able to benefit from this intervention. Everyone expressed their joy at being able to address these subjects. This module meets a real expectation of young people. It is now necessary to integrate it into the catechetical journey.
Two possibilities are offered to you:
1. Organize a session with the diocese module (see intervention request protocol to be sent to [email protected].
2. Or organize an EARS session by contacting an approved organization with trained speakers yourself. It is essential that the workers do not know the young people in your area in order to create a safe place that promotes confidentiality. In this case, we ask you to present to the speakers the subjects covered in the module so that they can integrate them (Doc letter to parents here).
• Training of volunteers and request for a criminal record extract
The training of people in regular contact with children and young people is a priority in order to enable the Church to be a safe house. It also allows young people to find help and support if needed. You will find all the details in ce document.
To achieve this, several elements have been put in place since last year:
*Training time from a 35 minute video. This time of discussion aims to raise awareness and mobilize for the protection of minors.
Important : this video will only be viewed as a team with the priest or a cooperator, already trained during the days on the code of pastoral relations. The video is not intended for public use. Do not hesitate to ask us if you need help with the organization and entertainment of this evening.
*Each volunteer must sign the well-treatment charter developed by the CEF as well as the letter of commitment
*Checking the B3 criminal record extract every 5 years will now be the norm in the diocese
