Argentina went on a blast against neighbors Uruguay at home in Buenos Aires.

Zero goals and zero points. It is rare for the world champions, who have not lost a football match since the shock loss against Saudi Arabia in the World Cup on 22 November last year.
It has been two years since Argentina did not score in a football match, but last night it happened against Uruguay with a heroic Darwin Nuñez on top.
He punctuated the match for “little brother” Uruguay after 86 minutes when he was played in the back room on a counterattack. At full speed against Emiliano Martínez, he made no mistake and Nuñez humiliated the Argentine keeper by putting the ball between his legs.

Uruguay had gone into the break with a 0–1 lead after Matias Viña won the ball from a defender down the left flank before crossing to Ronald Araujo on the right side of the box. He placed the ball neatly behind Martínez, a ball that was possibly not completely impossible for the goalkeeper who was named the world’s best. Joy, however, turned to tears later in the match when the same Araujo was carried off the pitch with an injury.
Argentina’s biggest opportunities came at the set-piece. And as many times before, it was Messi who was closest. He aimed a free kick over the wall after Di Maria had been fouled just outside the 16-metre area, but the ball hit the crossbar.
This resulted in an away win at Boca Juniors’ home ground La Bonbonera in Buenos Aires.
Messi was interviewed after the match and explained the loss as follows.
– We never got comfortable, and couldn’t find ways to keep the ball. We couldn’t find the rhythm. They were very physical, worked hard, and were good on counterattacks, says Messi. He also stated that the eccentric Argentine coaching legend Marcelo Bielsa has already left his mark on this Uruguay team.

As usual, there was a high temperature between the two neighbours, and already after 21 minutes there was mass pushing and bickering with the lion’s share of the players involved, including Lionel Messi.
In this situation, Uruguay’s young midfielder Manuel Ugarte made an obscene gesture towards world champion Rodrigo De Paul, which the cameras caught.
Asked to comment on this, Messi made a poor attempt at diplomacy:
– I prefer not to say what I think about this, but this youngster must learn to respect the elderly.
Ps: The next task for Messi and co will be against arch-rival Brazil on Wednesday night. So you can watch that match on VG+!
