Food aid goes viral on social media stunting or Supplementary Feeding (PMT) for toddlers stunting by Depok City Government (Pemkot). the budgeted IDR 4.9 billion only contains tofu and nugget. Head of the Depok Health Service (Kadinkes) Mary Liziawati admitted that this had referred to technical guidelines from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).
“So we follow the technical guidelines (Ministry of Health) that the PMT given to toddlers is local PMT, meaning it is made from local basic ingredients processed by MSMEs. We follow the technical guidelines by giving it for 28 days with 6 days of snacks and 1 day of lunch,” said Mary to journalists at Depok City Hall, Thursday (16/11/2023).
The problem, said Mary, was that on the first day of implementation, people were not yet familiar with the term ‘snack’ and did not know that giving PMT was not a complete meal. His party also carried out outreach regarding this matter.
“This is saying ‘Just two tofu, just two brains’. From the recipe book issued by UNICEF issued by the Ministry of Health, the snack contains two types of animal protein which have sufficient nutritional content for toddlers,” he said.
“The otak-otak is not the otak-otak sold on the roadside. But the otak-otak is filled with eggs, so the nutritional content is in accordance with the standards issued by the Ministry of Health,” he added.
Mary said that this was the first time PMT had received regional incentives. His party received a budget from the central government for local PMT amounting to IDR 4.9 billion which will be given to 38 community health centers in Depok City.
“(Per package) IDR 18 thousand all in, there is tax, there is distribution, there is for packaging, washing, because we told the washing provider vendor first because we don’t want to increase the collection of waste in Depok City. (Package) 9,882 every day for the next 28 days stack like what, so we ask for the packaging to be reused or reuse,” he said.
Mary explained that the PMT given to toddlers also met nutritional standards. However, this has not been socialized to the public until it is widely discussed.
“The perception so far is that PMT in Depok City is often given PMT with a non-government budget, whether from the private sector, corporate CSR, then from the PKK with a sponsor budget, CSR budget like that. So always given a complete menu. “Never before has local PMT been in the form of snacks,” he said.
