The performance was completed in five hours and fifty-five minutes on November 5. That day, Frédéric Lazaro, a resident of Pocé-sur-Cisse (Indre-et-Loire) above-knee amputee, completed marathon from New York (United States). In April 2022, he had already participated in the Paris marathon.
Adventures he shared with an orthoprosthetist friend, reports The New Republic. To run the 42.195 km, the man was able to count on a sports prosthesis that was particularly difficult to master for a femoral amputee.
An “impressive” atmosphere
For the two athletes, this challenge was also experienced as a real human adventure: “The atmosphere was impressive. […] All along the bridges and streets, the excitement and encouragement from the public was indescribable.” Encouragement all the more important when passing the Pocéen, due to his handicap.
“Preparing for a marathon and participating in it with a friend are fabulous sensations of pleasure,” explains Frédéric Lazaro to the local newspaper, who is already thinking about taking on new challenges with his friend.
