New photos are said to show weapons and other military equipment belonging to Hamas inside the much-discussed al-Shifa hospital. Hamas calls the images a “ridiculous theater”.

On Wednesday morning, Israeli forces entered the much talked about al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, after several days of airstrikes.
Later that day, spokesperson for the IDF, Daniel Hagaripublished photos and videos which he claims must have been taken from inside the hospital.
They show, among other things, weapons, radio equipment and other technological equipment.
Furthermore, the IDF writes in a press release that they have also discovered an “operational headquarters” in another department of the hospital, and that they have “eliminated” five Hamas soldiers.

They specify that no patients or staff should have been injured during the raid.
On Wednesday evening, there are still soldiers inside the area.
– The IDF continues to operate in the area of the hospital while gathering intelligence.
Evidence war
The Al-Shifa hospital has in the last week ended up at the center of the conflict between the parties.
The Israeli authorities have repeatedly claimed that there are command bunkers and main tunnels that run under the Gaza hospitals, and that this is the reason they are attacking the institutions.
Among other things, the IDF recently published photos that they claim show an entrance to Hamas’s tunnel system outside another hospital, the Qatar Hospital.

The White House also claimed on Tuesday that it has intelligence indicating that Hamas has used hospitals in Gaza to “conceal operations” and weapons, as well as hold hostages.
In a comprehensive analysis, Faktisk.no writes that the images do not prove that this is the case. Al Jazeera has also examined the images, and concluded that the hatch is an opening to water reserves for a therapy bath at the hospital.
Hanne Eggen Røslien, who is a religious historian and special adviser in the Defense Staff, has previously explained that each side builds its own narrative.
– Whether you believe that Israel is brutal and kills civilian targets, or that it is Hamas that makes civilians a target and is brutal, depends on which side you associate yourself with.

Hamas has repeatedly denied that it uses the Shifa hospital for military purposes. The Palestinian Authority has also warned against Israel’s statements regarding al-Shifa.
Hamas calls the images a “ridiculous theater”, and believes the IDF has taken weapons, clothes and equipment and placed them in the hospital.
Bennet Naim, head of political and international relations in Hamas, says via a statement on Telegram that the images are “worthless” and “a farce”. Naim states that they are happy to welcome a neutral control committee to assess the evidence and conditions at the hospital.

– The enemy’s aim is to put pressure on hospitals and medical personnel and drive out the population.
Al Jazeera’s political analyst Marwan Bishara also questions the images from the IDF.
– Why should Hamas leave the weapons and not something else?
She believes the Israeli military has nothing to show that justifies what she refers to as a “genocide against Gaza”.

Because while the battle for the truth is ongoing, several have tens of civilians lost their lives after the attacks, several of them infants. Outside the hospital, several hundred people have been placed in a mass grave.
From inside, there are reports of terrified people and the sound of gunshots and explosions. according to Al Jazeera sIsraeli soldiers are said to have taken around 30 people out into the courtyard for questioning. They will also arrest two engineers, according to Palestinian health authorities.
– It is terrible for the families who seek shelter in the hospital with their children. It is terrible for the staff who care for their patients – and for the patients themselves, a surgeon told the newspaper
From outside come repeated pleas for a ceasefire and an end to the fighting. Among other things, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands that there be an international investigation into Israel’s attack on the hospitals.
UN aid chief Martin Griffiths has also reacted strongly to the hospital raid.
