New TikTok Feature: Add to Music App for Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music

KOMPAS.com – TikTok users are finding it easier to listen to their favorite music on the music streaming application. This is thanks to the launch of the new feature “Add to music app” (add to music application).

With the new Add to Music App feature, TikTok users can save the songs they like on TikTok directly to the popular music streaming application. In the initial stages, supported music streaming applications include Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

With this feature, users don’t need to bother opening a music streaming application, typing the name of the musician/song title manually to listen again to good songs found on TikTok.

The “Add to music app” menu will appear near the song title which is usually at the bottom of the content on the For You Page (FYP) page. The same feature will also appear when the user clicks on the song title. The “Add to music app” menu will be right next to “Add to favorites”.

After clicking the “Add to music app” menu, users can choose one of the music streaming applications to be the default choice. Currently, this feature is only available for users in the United States and United Kingdom.

For Spotify, this feature can only be enjoyed by users in the US and UK for free or for a fee starting November 14 2023. Later, songs from TikTok will be saved in the “Liked Songs” playlist (liked songs).

Spotify said that TikTok’s “Add to music app” feature will be available to users in other markets over time.

For Amazon Music users in the US and UK, favorite TikTok songs will be added to the “TikTok Songs” playlist or another playlist of the user’s choice.

Unlike Spotify, the “Add music to app” feature can only be enjoyed by Amazon Prime customers and Amazon Music Unlimited customers. Also, only paid Apple Music subscribers can enjoy this feature on TikTok.

According to the TechCrunch report, as compiled by KompasTekno, Thursday (16/11/2023), the presence of the new “Add to music app” feature seems to strengthen TikTok’s position as an influencing factor in the top music charts and the discovery of new artists/musicians.

TikTok’s influence in the music industry can also be seen in the redesign of the Spotify application. Earlier this year, Spotify introduced an instant discovery feed page for music and podcasts with a design inspired by TikTok’s “swipe up.”
