Muktupāvels: A Farewell with Humor and Reflection – Kas Jauns Interview with Radio Personality

Muktupávels, who worked on the radio for 15 years, describes his departure with a touch of humor in a conversation with “Kas Jauns”: “I didn’t want to wait for the moment when people would say behind me: ‘When will that old fool finally leave!?’ (Laughs.) That’s why it’s better to leave when I’ve grown up with this show so much that normal memories remain.”

“It’s not a sudden decision, I made it slowly, slowly, studying and controlling myself. At some point, you have to learn to leave…”

Gustavs Terzens has taken his place. “It’s good that the program will get a new breath and freshness,” he believes.

Making this decision was not emotionally easy because, as Muktupāvels admits, he wanted to celebrate the centenary of Latvian Radio:

“I just felt inside that I had to quit.

I thought, I thought, I made a decision and I did it. I’ll live on!”

Until the end of the year, Muktupāvela’s work schedule is filled with music. “Music is and will be my main occupation.”

“Kultūras rondo” is a Latvian Radio 1 program about cultural processes in Latvia and the world, which also provides detailed annotations about current events in music, art, cinema, theater, literature, architecture, design, etc.
