Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of trying to sit on two chairs and warned that such a policy would hardly lead to anything good.
Thus, Zakharova commented on the Armenian Prime Minister’s refusal to participate in the upcoming session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as well as the supply of Western weapons to Yerevan.

At the same time, Zakharova pointed out, Yerevan is making attempts to establish friendship with Kyiv. “The Western plan in Ukraine has failed completely. With the same brutal grip, Armenia is now seized,” she said.
According to Zakharova, Armenia wants to maintain relations in the Eurasian Economic Union, which also includes Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, but at the same time takes unfriendly steps in the security sphere. The latter, she stressed, harm bilateral relations and ignore Moscow’s interests.
Earlier, Pashinyan, in a telephone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, said that he would not attend the CSTO meeting scheduled for November 23 in Minsk, and expressed hope that the organization’s partners would understand this decision. He emphasized that the country is not preparing to leave the organization.
Relations between Armenia and Russia deteriorated after the Russians did not help the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. Pashinyan himself admitted that Armenia made a strategic mistake by relying only on Russia for its security.
