A close friend of Jonathan Lewis was harassed. A group of teenagers took his belongings and threw them in the trash, according to a statement on the GoFundMe page. The father of the beaten boy wrote on the website that he was “shocked by the enormity and horror of my beloved boy being beaten to death”. He recounts how he held his “favorite boy’s” hand in the hospital and watched how “his son’s life leaves his body”.

“Jonathan was a hero who tried to help a younger kid who was being bullied and 15 people attacked him. My son was beaten to death,” said a statement posted on the website.
“Jonathan was an aspiring artist, a kind, loving, caring and generous young man who had a lifetime of purpose ahead of him,” the boy’s father said.
The father of the dead boy wrote that his mission is “to focus on solving the problems that are the root cause of violence and hatred.”
The boy’s family told Sky News that a foundation called Team Jonathan would be set up after his death.

Eight students have been arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of murder following the incident. Las Vegas police said the students were between the ages of 13 and 17 years and investigators are working to identify two more teenagers believed to have been involved in the Nov. 1 fight.
Jonathan Lewis, 17, died in hospital with serious injuries “head injury” a week after the attack. This was said by Lieutenant Jason Johansson of the “Homicide” department, quoted by Sky News. Johansson says the fight took place after a pair of headphones and an e-cigarette were stolen from Jonathan’s friend.

Investigators believe that Jonathan did not plan to participate in the fight, but merely accompanied his friend to the nearby alley where the fight was to take place. According to the investigators, the fight was organized.
