On September 27, in response to the next provocation of the occupying Armenia in Karabakh, the Azerbaijani Army, which launched a counter-offensive operation, was able to restore the historical justice by ensuring the territorial integrity of our country with the 44-day Victory March. Our Armed Forces bravely fought to clear the occupied territories from the enemy and achieved great historical achievements. The Patriotic War ended with victory as a result of the decisive and irrevocable will of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and the heroism of our Victorious Army. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, it was decided to celebrate September 27 as Memorial Day in our country. It goes without saying that this historical victory was won at the expense of the blood of our martyrs and the unity of our people. Land – if someone died for it, it is the Motherland. The sad truth is that no victory goes down in history without blood. As Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev said, “we won this war at the cost of the lives of our martyrs, at the expense of the bravery of our soldiers, at the expense of our state’s policy. Today, the whole world saw what the strength of Azerbaijan is. The victory achieved in 44 days was won due to the professionalism and heroism of our soldiers.
At the same time, for 44 days, our people demonstrated a high level of unity. As they say, “one hand can move a mountain.” We achieved victory in the war as a result of the bravery of our soldiers on the front, the bravery of our army, our civilians on the rear, and the solidarity of our people as a whole. We once again proved to the world that these lands are the eternal and eternal lands of Azerbaijan, and no one can violate this reality. The insidious enemy, who had no intention of returning our lands, had built strong fortifications here for decades. The invaders thought that the Azerbaijani Army would never be able to pass these fortifications. In addition, the mountainous terrain of the area was also a factor that created difficulties. The military units of Armenia had established a position on the heights located in our occupied territories. However, the Azerbaijani Army fighting under the leadership of Muzaffar Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev brought the enemy to his knees, broke his back and forced him to surrender for 44 days. By the way, according to the statistics of the last few years, our country ranked 2nd in Europe and 3rd in the world in terms of modern armament. Undoubtedly, all these successes were possible thanks to the goal-oriented army building policy carried out by the head of our state. If it were not so, the Azerbaijani Army would have single-handedly implemented the remaining 4 resolutions of the UN Security Council in order to liberate our lands from occupation, defeat the enemy on the battlefield, and occupy the entire front line. he could not fully control the operational conditions in his directions. During the Patriotic War, the Azerbaijani Army liberated more than 300 settlements from occupation directly on the battlefield. After Shusha was liberated from occupation on November 8, and more than 70 settlements were liberated the next day, the enemy was forced to sign the tripartite Declaration, which was considered an act of capitulation.
Appreciating our glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, President Ilham Aliyev said, “We came as a victorious nation. Not through negotiations, not as a result of any compromise that could be made by Armenia, we came by shedding blood on the battlefield, giving martyrs, showing selflessness, restored our territorial integrity and restored our national dignity,” he stressed. It should be recalled that the Statement signed by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and the Prime Minister of Armenia was formulated on the basis of the conditions of the victorious Azerbaijan. Occupying Armenia, in accordance with the obligations assumed by that Declaration, handed over Agdam, Kalbajar and Lachin districts to our republic without a fight at the next stage. Thus, mighty Azerbaijan managed to restore historical justice and its territorial integrity through military and political means.
The forces that are dissatisfied with the liberation of Karabakh, without a doubt, are even more worried after seeing the ongoing repair and restoration works, and they make claims that contradict history and have no basis. They just ignore the real facts and try to hide the truth. The visible mountain needs no guide. The inhumane crimes committed by Armenian savages in Ganja, Barda, and Tartar during the 44-day war, who did not take into account any norms of international law and accepted international conventions, are a clear example of this. At the same time, the atrocities committed in the historical territories of Azerbaijan draw a line once and for all over the myth of “ancient and cultured people” invented by Armenians about themselves. A nation that is more or less aware of civilization will never claim ownership of the culture created by its neighbors and will not attempt to destroy it. However, the Azerbaijani side always expresses its open position and openly exhibits its worthy response. Restoration and construction works have already been started on the lands cleared of the enemy, and successful results have been achieved in this direction. Today, major infrastructure projects are being rapidly implemented in parallel with demining operations in the lands liberated from the enemy. The return of our settlers to the village of Agali proved once again that no force will be able to turn us from our path. It should be especially emphasized that along with our glorious victory on the front within 44 days, the people of Azerbaijan took advantage in the information front as well. Our people also won the large-scale information war on social networks to convey the facts to the world. The Commander-in-Chief was at the head of this victory. Simultaneously with the successes of our victorious army, Ilham Aliyev took the head of the information policy and conveyed the true voice of Azerbaijan to the world community and media. ABut most importantly, we can say with full confidence that the main reason for our frontline successes was the strong state policy implemented by the President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, a strong army strategy, national unity and the enthusiasm of our fighters. The second Karabakh war will be remembered in history as a glorious victory of Azerbaijan. However, we cannot forget our blood memory. The history of the occupation of our lands and the history of victory should be taught to the future generations, and it should be instilled that this victory was written with the blood of many heroic sons. Because we should not forget the history, if we had forgotten the history, we would not have won the victory. And most importantly, the idea that the forgotten history repeats itself should be constantly engraved in our memory. In the end, we wish mercy to our martyrs who wrote the glorious victory of Azerbaijan with their lives and blood, healing to our veterans, and health to our war participants.
