The former defender of Rodez Aveyron football, Adrien Oliveira, now Bozoulais, is preparing to swap the player’s uniform for that of a referee, after having been accepted for initial refereeing training. A promising and all too rare reconversion for someone who spent a large part of his career in blood and gold.
There was Gaël Angoula, the ex-pro player who notably played in Bastia or Nîmes, now a man in black among the professionals. There will be Adrien Oliveira in the future. At least, in the District at least. The original Lotois, adopted (at heart) in Aveyron, has just seen his referee training validated by the Aveyron district. The big debut is coming and the new outfit that goes with it.
“I stopped football in 2018, the year we moved up to National 3 with the Rodez reserve, he remembers. I had just had a child and the investment was becoming too large. But I always talked, I played with the Cantou’lousain (the Aveyronnais of Toulouse, Editor’s note) when I joined my wife in Toulouse. And last season, I was helping out in Bozouls where she comes from “, recounts the one who was part of the pennant group in Year I of Laurent Peyrelade on the Piton concluded by a sporting relegation then an administrative rescue.
After having roamed the left sides of the stadiums as a full-back, Adrien Oliveira, 34, is preparing to perform different crosses as a referee. He will now officiate at the center of the game and take on other responsibilities. “The Bozouls club did not have a referee and offered one to me. So I said to myself: “Why not”. This allows me to stay in the world of football. With children, I don’t have much time. Refereeing is once a week. I don’t depend on anyone and without training constraints“, he continues.
“I’m thinking of attacking in D4 soon”
The computer engineer in civilian life is now preparing to make his big debut under his new colors. A very different club from what he has known so far, but an experience that deserves to be experienced by many others. Especially knowing the terrain. After Pradines, Raf and AOB, it is arbitration that awaits Oliveira. With its good and bad sides. Although pressure shouldn’t be a problem for him. “ I have the rhythm as I said, I have never cut off with football and sport, there is no problem for that especially since I am thinking of attacking soon in Division 4 of the district at least for three or four meetings with a supervisor. It’s the same for everyone. “
Five years later, the former blood and gold is putting his boots back on in another way by putting himself at the service of football and his adopted department. And who knows, maybe in a few years, he could come full circle in the new Paul-Lignon for an Aveyron Cup final? Even an Angoula-style destiny.
