The entire box can be purchased for 34,400 CZK. Jaromír Jágr and Ladislav Vostárek became his godfathers on Tuesday at the Ambassador Hotel in Prague. Singer and bassist Jožo Ráž and singer and guitarist Ján Baláž answered the questions.
Does the new book about the Elán group say everything?
Balaž: She has no secrets, but we do. And what the secret is, we cannot reveal.
Is there information in the book that will surprise your fans?
Ráž: Certainly. Our life was and is extremely interesting, and it is described in great detail in that book. I think some things will probably shock people.

The entire box is on sale for almost thirty-five thousand. Do you think it lives up to its value?
Balaž: It is a limited edition book and for those who like such things, it is actually an investment.
Ráž: But we do not influence the price, that is a matter of the publisher and his intention.
A total of 555 books will be published in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Will you also become their owners?
Balaž: Yes, it is part of the contract that the publisher signed with us.
This year, on August 19, your teammate and friend Vašo Patejdl died. Are you coping with it?
Ráž: His departure is difficult for us, because Vašo is irreplaceable for the band and in our lives. It will be very difficult for us to play without him at the upcoming concerts, it will be sad for us. However, we have already experienced it, because he was not in our lineup from 1986 to 1996.
However, we are musicians and we have no choice but to keep playing. And so we will play for him. We have added concerts in Prague and Bratislava that will be for him.
Balaž: Your departure is a disaster for us. A person with whom we have been with practically our whole life has passed away, he was a member of our family. We have a great sadness in our souls. However, we planned the first September concerts, which will take place in Prague and Bratislava, with him. That’s why we’ll play them, and that’s why we’ve added other concerts for you.

Did you know he was seriously ill?
Ráž: I knew that and I also knew then that his life would unfortunately only last a short time.
Baláž: Yours had several problems, he also had a heart operation. But we didn’t learn about the disease he died of until two or three weeks before it happened.
Are there any songs left over from him that you’d like to work on?
Ráž: He must have left something behind, but those things are in his home studio. We don’t have access to them, so I don’t know what will happen to them.
What was his role in the functioning of Elán?
Balaž: He was a total professional. He had studied composition and was proficient in composing and arranging songs. We came up with the songs and he arranged them. Of course we could do it too, but it would definitely take us much longer and the result might not be as good. Yours was the musical brain of the band.
Ráž: He was a brilliant author and a brilliant musician. It was admirable how well he had mastered the craft. He could play everything, he could arrange everything, he understood everything in music.
Some time ago you announced the end of the band, but you are back and you have four concerts ahead of you. Can’t stand it in musical retirement?
Ráž: There should have been only two, the other two are for you. But I wouldn’t say that I can’t enjoy my musical retirement. On the contrary, I enjoy it. I love doing nothing, so it suited me perfectly. But the audience was asking for our songs, so we decided to play them for them.
Balaž: Even after announcing the end of Elán, I wasn’t quite finished. I have another band so I keep making music. I really like her, and of course I’m glad that Elán and I decided to play again.
