Im Lower Rhine Football Association (FVN) numerous teams are once again fighting for the coveted promotion places in 13 football districts District league A in the District league. In total, up to 21 teams can make the leap into national amateur football in the 2023/24 season. Which districts have how many promotion places and which three districts can hope for three bonus promotion places.
Since the current season, the Lower Rhine District League their usual relay strength with six groups. In previous years there was increased promotion in the Corona years up to eight groups, which is why the promotion and relegation plan for the district leagues did not correspond to the norm.
A total of 18 newcomers are being sought in the 2023/24 season. The football districts of Duisburg-Dinslaken-Mülheim, Düsseldorf, Essen, Grevenbroich-Neuss and Rees-Bocholt can look forward to two guaranteed promotion places; in the other districts only the district league A champion is promoted to the district league.

Three additional climbers possible
But the number of newcomers to the district league can still rise to 21. In the order of Kempen-Krefeld, Oberhausen-Bottrop and Wuppertal-Niederberg, there would be another promotion place for each of the three districts if there were correspondingly few relegated teams from the regional league.
108 teams play in the six district league groups (18 teams per league). What is certain is that six teams will be promoted to the state league and 24 will be relegated to the district league A. The number of relegated teams from the national league remains variable. There will only be clarity here towards the season finale, because the number of relegations in inter-district football depends on how many teams from the Regional league in the Oberliga descend.
