Jakarta –
Neymar had to be sidelined for a long time after undergoing surgery to repair his knee. Doctor Brazilian National Team Rodrigo Lasmar admitted that the injury suffered by the 31-year-old striker was worse than before.
Throughout his career, Neymar has been known to have ‘glass feet’. Even though he has contributed goals and assists in abundance every season, injuries often bother the striker Al Hilal that forced him to be absent for quite a long time.
Last month, he suffered another meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee in the Uruguay vs Brazil match in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. He had to have surgery and is now racing against time to recover before the 2024 Copa America.
“Neymar’s recovery process is going well,” Lasmar said earlier this week, quoted by ESPN.
“Last Sunday I was with him for a post-operative assessment, as scheduled. His recovery is only in the early stages, but going well. It’s a complex injury, the ligaments are broken and his leg will have to rest for a while.”
“He will have to undergo a long rehabilitation process due to his injury, he is aware of that. But he is responding well, we are satisfied. It is very important for him to understand how serious the injury is.”
“He’s had a number of injuries and other situations, this is his third operation. I took part in the previous two, they were shorter in duration. This time the injury was the most serious, it took more time. So he needs to be more focused and dedicated in his recovery. He followed the whole our direction,” explained Lasmar.
The 2024 Copa America starts on June 20. Can Neymar recover in time?
