Famous Ukrainian forward Alexander Kovpak spoke about Chelsea midfielder Mikhail Mudrik, with whom he previously played together in Arsenal Kiev.

— In the 2018/2019 season, the very young Mikhail Mudrik was on loan at Arsenal Kiev. Did you play with him?
– Yes, I found Mishka. The child was very young and green. I remember the photo, me, Lipartia and Mudrik. I show my wife – “Look, it’s worth 102 million. Mudrik – 100, and we have a million each.”
He was not yet formed at Arsenal, 18 years old. At that time, Misha was more nerve-wracking than useful. In a good way. He then sculpted himself. Mudrik was a Protestant against everyone. They say something to him – Misha could frown his eyebrows so interestingly, he doesn’t agree. But the talent was immediately visible. Jaba Lipartia and I were the oldest. They suggested: “Misha, you have fantastic speed, a colossal blow, take advantage of it. Put your tiki-taka away.” Sometimes I listened, sometimes something worked out. The talent was visible, they were waiting for it to grow. “Mine” waited, well done. They sold Mudrik for a fantastic sum.
— What is Mudrika’s children’s football? Did you want to beat everyone on the field, like in the yard?
“I remember the ball was flying towards him in the penalty area. Wake up and run forward! No, he’s starting to move, he’s kind of heeling. Our coach was Igor Ivanovich Leonov, he was bursting. How many nerves does it take to withstand this!
