The Controversy Surrounding Disney’s New Marvel Film: A Closer Look

The debut of Disney’s new Marvel comic book film was very bad, so bad that it exceeded the most pessimistic forecasts. The first resounding failure was followed by many gloating commentators who had something to say about the film. However, the film was defended by the very authoritative voice of writer Stephen King, who himself does not really like superhero films, but he did not like the tone in which some of them are presented.

The Marvel movie is a direct sequel to Captain Marvel, which grossed over $1 billion in 2019. Unfortunately, despite the rich experience and star cast, the first trailer was met with a huge number of dislikes, and the situation did not improve after its release film on cinema screens.

The release of these figures sparked a competition to see who could say the most bad things about the film, prompting King to intervene on the X website:

I don’t go to see MCU movies, I don’t care for them, but this barely concealed schadenfreude about Marvel’s low box office numbers really bothers me. Why gloat over failure?

However, there were those who agreed with him and those who disagreed. Many noted that the hatred came from a misogynistic part of the audience, given the number of female heroes in Marvel, others appealed to the fact that this film is simply bad, the MCU has already run out of steam and is still paying for the effects of Avengers: Endgame.
