The company “SpaceX” led by Elon Musk is currently actively preparing for a repeat test of the “Starship” mega-rocket, which, if everything goes well, will take place already this Friday. At the same time, the publication “Reuters” published latest report, which claims that not only a lot of sweat, but also blood was poured into forging the success of SpaceX. In the course of the investigation, “Reuters” recorded that due to the low level of work safety, the employees suffered 600 injuries, and there was even one death.
Reuters says it spoke to dozens of current and former SpaceX employees and reviewed records of their compensation. The records included reports of several hundred workers who suffered various types of on-the-job injuries, from cuts, burns, broken bones, dislocations, head injuries, concussions to skull fractures.
SpaceX employees themselves have described their work environment as chaotic. They also pointed out that workers are often not trained enough and are overworked to the point where they have to skip safety procedures just to meet deadlines. Another of the employees stated that Musk’s goals are to go to Mars and save humanity at any cost and as soon as possible, which permeates all departments of the company.
The investigation also revealed that SpaceX had not reported workplace accidents for some time. About two-thirds of the employee injuries uncovered by Reuters occurred in years when the company did not file these reports.
