The Italian football club is looking for a new coach, although it has not yet officially parted ways with the current one. Despite this, information is already circulating in the Italian media that Frenchman Rudi Garcia will no longer continue with SSC Napoli. Francesco Calzona could become a possible successor.
He took the position of head coach after leaving Luciana Spallettiho, who returned Naples back to the Italian throne after a long 33-year wait. The successful helmsman later became the new coach of the Italian national football team, and the SSC management had to solve the problem.
A Frenchman became the new head of the bench of the club from under Vesuvius Rudy Garcia, whose mission in Naples apparently ends after only 4 months. Napoli has lost the spark it had in the previous season under his hands, it is no longer so dominant and it is also shown in the numbers, as after 12 matches in Serie A they are in 4th place with a 10-point loss to the leader Inter Milan.
This year, the “partenopei” won six matches, drew three and lost three. The cup of patience overflowed after Sunday’s home loss to Empoli 0:1. Rudi Garcia should pack his bags and leave the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, even though the club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has not issued any opinion yet.

However, there is already speculation as to who could become Garcia’s successor. Foreign media reported that the former famous defender and a native of Naples could be the new coach Fabio Cannavaro, who is currently unemployed, but leading SSC would be something of a dream come true for him. The 2006 Ballon d’Or winner even watched the match with Empoli from the box together with De Laurentiis.
“Leading Napoli would be a dream come true for me, as I have been a fan of this club since childhood. I realize that I need to work hard and gain more experience first. We’ll see what happens in the future,” Cannavaro told Sky Sport Italia a year ago when he was in charge of Benevento.

A Croat Tudor is in the works and the return of the Calzone is mentioned
The reigning Italian champion is now working on the arrival of a new coach, who should be a 45-year-old Croatian expert Igor Tudor. The native of Split last worked in the French Olympique Marseille, where he finished at the end of June this year. Before that, he briefly managed Hellas Verona and was also an assistant at Turin’s Juventus.
In addition to the former coach of Udinese Calcio, Galatasaray Istanbul, Hajduk Split or PAOK Thessaloniki, the name of the coach of the Slovak national football team is also mentioned Francesca Calzono. A well-known Italian journalist came up with this claim Maurizio Pistocchiwho said it for radio Punto Nuovo.

According to Pistocchi, Tudor is not the right choice. “I was among the first to say that Rudi Garcia was not suitable for SSC. Now he is retiring and the main problem is who will replace him. Whoever it is, they will find themselves in one of the most difficult situations imaginable.” the well-known journalist explains.
“De Laurentiis cannot afford another mistake now. He must choose a coach who will fully understand the characteristics of this squad and with whom he will be able to work. Taking someone who is not capable of fulfilling this role would be another huge mistake. Someone has to come who can jump in even during the season in progress,” argues Pistocchi, for whom Tudor is definitely not the right man for the job.
“He is playing power football and not one that is built on quality. In addition, he plays with up to five defenders instead of four. Let’s face it, he did well in Verona, but in Juventus and Udinese it was a complete disaster.” thinks the Italian, who subsequently mentioned that one of the ideal candidates should also be the current coach of the Slovak national football team.

“If we were to talk about someone else, then about a coach who would be able to continue the work of Luciano Spalletti. Names I would definitely light up on? Calzona, former assistant to Maurizio Sarri and former member of Spalletti’s implementation team. Francesco Farioli of OGC Nice, who dominates Ligue 1, is also a possibility, but it will probably be difficult to convince him to leave unless he receives a really good offer. Then there is Davide Ballardini, who can work in such a difficult situation,” added Maurizio Pistocchi, who also added that the management of Napoli has already taken a step aside with Garcia, but cannot repeat it with his successor.
The Italian Francesco Calzona has signed a contract with the Slovak Football Association until 2023, and in the event of a successful promotion to EURO 2024, which the “falcons” lack by only one point out of six, the cooperation will also be extended to the final EC tournament.
