Ingvild Flugstad Östberg’s health problems continue.

The cross-country skiing star will not start in the Norwegian season opener.

– The balance between exercise and diet has not been good enough, says Flugstad Östberg.

It is in a press release that Ingvild Flugstad Östberg announces that she will not be participating in any competitions in Beitostölen this coming weekend.

– I have put in a huge amount of work with good support around me, but right now unfortunately not all parameters are good enough to get an approved health certificate. The balance between exercise and diet has not been good enough, says the 33-year-old.

Flugstad Östberg has several strong merits. Among other things, she has won two Olympic golds and two WC golds in the relay and sprint relay and took home the overall victory in the Tour de Ski (2018/2019).

Third break

Four years ago, Flugstad Östberg was forced to take a long break due to health problems and missed almost two seasons. She came back temporarily in November 2021, but then had new problems.

Last winter, Flugstad Östberg made a more successful comeback and regained her place in the Norwegian national team, but the new break that she is now forced to take is the third in four years.

The premiere of the World Cup takes place in Ruka on November 24.
