Mayoral election – Enzenreith: One hundred percent for new local boss Dirk Rath

For good reason, the meeting of the Enzenreith municipal council took place on Monday evening in the cultural center and not in the municipal office. In office, the numerous guests simply had no space to take part in the meeting.

Family, friends, but also party colleagues from Gloggnitz, Payerbach and Ternitz came to be part of the election of the new Enzenreith community leadership. As reported, both long-term mayor Franz Antoni and his deputy Luis Lechner (both SPÖ) had ended their political careers, which is why new elections were on the agenda.

As was already known in advance, the SPÖ proposed Dirk Rath as the new mayor and Johann Haiden as deputy mayor. Before the 18 local councilors present went to the ballot box (local councilor Michael Muhr was excused), Julia Hofmann and Eduard Steiner were sworn in as new representatives. Dirk Rath ultimately received 18 out of 18 possible votes – you could tell he was relieved. “I accept the election with full thanks and respect. 1,800 community residents only know Franz Antoni as mayor. Now I can follow in these footsteps and I will take up the office with a lot of joy and enthusiasm,” said Dirk Rath in his welcoming remarks.

Rath thanked his predecessor and the entire team: “Preserving the tried and tested and creating visions” will be his motto, said Rath. He is “proud to be Enzenreither”.

After Michael and Robert Muhr were elected to the community board, the election for deputy mayor came up. Here too there was unanimity: Johann Haiden was appointed as the new deputy with 18 votes. Despite his 23 years of experience in local politics, you could see his emotions. “You are nervous,” he admitted in his greeting message.
