It was only after that film that the regular template roles began to change: Basil
Basil Joseph is an actor and director who has gained a lot of audience attention in a short period of time. Basil started his career as a director and later became a busy hero in Malayalam. Basil was fortunate to have the films he acted in as well as the films he directed.
Basil talks about choosing characters. Basil says that after his role in the film Joji, he got a change from playing characters of the same template.
In an interview with The Forth, Basil said that this is why he was able to do films like Keeru Katorami Andakataham. The actor was sharing the details of his new film Falimi.
Directors are also ready to experiment with me when one or two successful films come out. It was only after Joji that people started paying attention to me for such a role. Otherwise all I kept getting were the same template characters. It was only after Joji that I felt that I could do the same and try for such roles.
The stories that came after that were very different. The audience also started thinking differently.
We also get excited when such filmmakers come. Because it comes from trying to do it in a new way. When they think in the same template, they don’t think of anything new.
We feel very happy when we make a film like that. The film where I did that was Keeru Kathoramee Andakataham. I felt a lot of emotional connection when I heard that. It is a film acted like that. It was a challenge for me too. I should try not to disappoint them. I pushed maximum for that. Only then can we grow,’ says Basil.
Falimi is releasing on November 17. The Basil Joseph starrer in the film has Jagadish and Manju Pillai playing the lead roles. The film tells the story of a family from Thiruvananthapuram on a journey to Varanasi and the interesting events that take place in between.
