Benfica – Sporting Portugal 2-1
Just as the half-time signal sounded, the visitors took the lead thanks to Viktor Gyokeres, who scored on a pass from Marcus Edwards: 0-1. Six minutes after the restart, Gonçalo Ignacio received his second yellow and therefore red card from referee Artur Soares Dias, which increased the chances of a good end result for Benfica. Despite the numerical superiority, the home team was unable to force a breakthrough for a long time. Until the 94th minute of play arrived.
After a deflected corner kick, the ball ended up at the feet of João Neves, who scored convincingly: 1-1. The climax was then unprecedented. Fredrik Aursnes outsmarted Jeremiah St. Juste and delivered a cross to Casper Tengstedt, who made it 2-1. Initially, the flag was raised due to alleged offside, but the video footage showed that the observation was incorrect. The decision was corrected and the 2-1 final score stood.
