In November 2022, Apple launched its satellite SOS service via satellite in the US and Canada, and while the feature is designed to help you in real-life emergencies, the satellites Apple Industrial also lets you share your location via Find My wherever you are offline, according to macrumors.
Following the announcement of Apple’s Satellite Emergency SOS feature, each model in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 lineup can communicate directly with the satellite, thanks to a combination of specially designed components and integrated software.
This means iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users can message emergency services outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, even if you’re out in the wilderness and don’t have a real emergency. You can share your location via satellite using Find My To reassure friends and family.
How to share your location via satellite:
1- Open the Find My application on your iPhone 14.
2- Click on the “Me” tab located in the lower right corner of the screen.
3- Swipe up on the card to reveal “My Satellite Location”.
4- Click on Submit my location.
That’s it, people in the Find My Friends network will receive a notification inviting them to view your current location.
