COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign in Guatemala: Significant Progress and Achievements

Guatemala City, Nov 12 (AGN). –The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) has shared updated data on the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in the country, highlighting the significant advances in the immunization of the population. Likewise, the MSPAS reports that a total of 20,383,069 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country.

First doses

According to the official report, to date, a total of 8 million 937 thousand 922 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This milestone reflects an ongoing effort to expand coverage and protect a significant number of citizens.

For the MSPAS, it is an achievement to have completed the vaccination schedule for 7,130,755 people, providing them with the second dose necessary to achieve more robust protection against the virus.

Boosting immunization, booster dose

In an effort to strengthen herd immunity, the ministry reports that 3,723,700 people have received booster doses. This measure seeks to increase the duration and effectiveness of protection, especially in a context of possible variants of the virus.

Second booster dose

Additionally, it is highlighted that 590,692 people have completed the vaccination cycle with the second booster dose. This group demonstrates a continued commitment to public health and preventing the spread of the virus.
