Logic would say that if you run a grocery store, especially as a major retail chain with tens to hundreds of branches, you will have top-notch hygienic conditions. After all, it’s also pretty much mandated by law, so you definitely can’t do whatever you want.
Stores broke off the chain
The grocery store itself is nothing complicated, it’s often just a matter of meeting various requirements. And if it’s not, then you’ve simply failed and you can hardly ask customers to come to you to buy, especially when you’re also asking for significant amounts.
From this point of view, the Norma retail chain, or rather its store in Kladno at Hřebečská Street 1259, completely failed. The State Agricultural and Food Inspection visited there as part of its regular inspections of supermarkets. And since they had experience from other stores, they headed straight for the warehouse. And there it went.
“The inspectors found traces of rodents in the warehouse, incl. their droppings. With regard to unacceptable hygiene, we imposed a partial ban on the controlled person from using the warehouse premises,” states SZPI in its commentary on the website Food on a sackcloth.
You just don’t see such a mess
The grounds of the establishment clearly showed signs of rodent activity. And what’s more, their excrement was even found there, especially in the hard-to-reach parts of the warehouse, where the staff apparently didn’t want to clean. The photos then testify to the fact that the rodents were able to get into some of the food they gnawed on. It is then a question of whether such goods will reach the sales counters of the store. No error was detected there, but it could also be a coincidence.

In any case, part of the establishment, specifically the warehouse, was closed until everything was put in order. But it is appropriate to ask whether it is not appropriate to close the entire store, even for a week, so that the staff and owners can question their conscience. This is the only way to ensure that they will be careful next time and take proper care of the cleaning.
