FLORIDA – A conservationist and his son recently discovered a giant Burmese python. Other hunters had to come to their aid. Together they managed to capture and kill the snake. The conservationist shared some incredible shots on Instagram.
Conservationist Mike Elfenbein and his 17-year-old son Cole discovered a Burmese python weighing nearly 90 kilograms in the Big Cypress National Preserve in early November. Once they spotted him, fellow hunters Trey Barber, Carter Gavlock and Holden Hunter joined them to catch him. “Officially 5.2 meters and 89 kilograms. This snake ate a lot of wildlife to get this big. It ate its last meal! It took five of us to control it, we were glad to remove it from our Everglades where he can no longer eat our wild game,” wrote Elfenbein on Instagram.
Gavlock grabbed the python by one end, then the others grabbed its head and all five men tried to wrestle the snake to the ground. However, he quickly resisted and was a formidable opponent. The heeler eventually sat on the reptile’s back and wrestled with it for more than 45 minutes.
The python kept lifting its body off the ground, trying to free itself from the grip of the men it didn’t fear at all. Later, a professional python hunter, Amy Siewe, arrived at the site, and as of 2019, she has captured 530 pythons. This individual was said to be the fattest python she had ever seen. She subsequently euthanized him.
