Motorcycle racer Francesco Bagnaia has again finished a few points ahead of his rival Jorge Martín in the MotoGP world championship. The Italian world champion finished third in the Malaysian Grand Prix, just ahead of his Spanish competitor. The victory went to Enea Bastianini. The Italian Ducati rider won for the first time this season.
Bagnaia was allowed to start from pole, but he had to allow Bastianini to take the lead right from the start. Álex Márquez, the winner of the sprint race on Saturday, advanced to second place. The two drivers quickly opened up a gap to Bagnaia and Martín behind. The two mainly looked at each other and during the race Bagnaia increased the gap with Martín to 2 and even more than 4 seconds.
In the World Cup, Bagnaia is in the lead with 412 points. That is 14 more than Martín. There are still two Grands Prix to go in the championship.
