PAZARDJIK. People from Petar Kulenski’s headquarters alerted the media that former mayor Todor Popov “continues with attempts to sabotage the municipality”. They recall the position of the previous mayor Popov, announced after the second round – that he will never again run for mayor and that he will not fight for the position of chairman of the Municipal Council, as he is still considering whether to become a municipal councilor. Literally from the next day, however, extremely alarming signals began to be heard in the city – some of the municipal councilors had become the object of serious pressure to vote for Todor Popov as chairman of the local parliament. In front of people from the Kulen group, municipal officials shared that they were forced to resign en masse under severe pressure in order to cripple the municipality’s ability to work, and to burden it even more financially because of benefits. At Kulenski’s headquarters, they received a signal – photos and video, about newly repaired sidewalks in Patalenitsa, which were ordered to be destroyed by excavators the day after the elections. Attempts were made to sabotage the processes of the football and volleyball teams in order to shift the blame to the new management. “According to sources, it is about blocking upcoming matches, withdrawing the companies responsible for the transport and accommodation of the clubs at the last minute, even relocating the funds for the salaries of the teams. In this way, Todor Popov’s mysterious message from a few days ago that he sees a sad future for volleyball and football in Pazardzhik, as you wrote in “Zname”, may turn out to be not as indirect as we thought”, say the whistleblowers.
Todor Popov has already stated that he will assist the new mayor and administration to get up to speed as quickly as possible and fingers crossed for them to build on what he and his team have achieved.
