Thomas Rogne’s Emotional Interview after Helsingborgs IF Secure Superettan Contract

Helsingborgs IF fell 1-0 against Skövde AIK in the last round. But thanks to a better goal difference than the bottom competitor, the red-blue Skåne gang secured a new super-etana contract anyway.

Afterwards, centre-back Thomas Rogne, 33, says that he would probably have put his shoes on the shelf if HIF left. After the final signal, the team captain broke down in tears.

– It has been very tough. Football is a lot of fun. I love doing it. I love life and everyday life when I can play football with my friends, work hard and play matches on weekends in front of such a fantastic audience, says Rogne to HD.

– You fight for a club. For so many. For yourself, your career, your pride and your family. You sacrifice your whole life for this, but as long as you can be on the plane and drive one hundred percent, it’s all worth it and no problems. It’s just an amazing feeling.

He continues:

– My career was at stake in the last matches. If we had left, probably nothing more would have happened. But now I have a year left where I have to sit down and find a way to be much more on the field than this year.

Thomas Rogne joined HIF last summer but has been sidelined with some injury concerns this year. For example, there were only 16 matches in the super league.
