“we have the impression of working for others. When this is done, we may no longer be here! », announced a resident this Thursday evening, November 9, thinking of the changes in the neighborhood. But the sixteen residents who have come are determined to play the game, by putting themselves in the shoes of a developer and allowing themselves to dream of the 4 years to come. Because it’s concrete. From the beginning of 2024, their ideas will see the light of day on the central mall, between the side alley of the shops and the still busy rue Paul-Pic. Planted with around twenty plane trees, this mineral strip, 137 meters long and 8 meters wide, will make way for projects that users will be able to test between 2024 and 2028. In this Thursday’s workshop, in groups of three or four, residents discuss, share their desires and formalize them on a plan. A fountain, flowers, garlands of lights to secure the premises at night, a bandstand, wooden deckchairs… There is no shortage of ideas! It’s up to town planners to take advantage of it to compare budget and feasibility. Their proposals will be presented in public on December 21 at 6 p.m. at Espace Parilly*. It will be the time to choose with local residents so that the work can begin at the beginning of 2024. What is certain is that this transitional public space, born from consultation between residents, the city and the metropolis, will be for four years a full-scale test inspiring the final development which will be carried out in 2028/2029, on the current side alley. The green esplanade will be completely pedestrianized between 2030 and 2032, when the demolition of UC6 will be finalized. This is when the development of the area will be completed. In the meantime, during the four years of testing, the shopping alley can be closed on request, during neighborhood events.
