Wolves vs. Tottenham: Late Goals Sink Spurs in Premier League Match

WOLVES – TOTTENHAM 2-1:

Tottenham looked to bounce back from their loss to Chelsea on Monday, but suffered a blow in extra time.

The first goal of the match came after around five minutes, when Brennan Johnson scored his first goal for the London club.

Spurs kept up with wonderful attacking play and it was both started and finished by the newcomer.

For a long time this looked like it would be the only goal of the game, but Pablo Sarabia equalized in overtime. A few minutes later, Mario Lemina was in place and ensured that all the points remained at Molineux.

There was suspense over how Tottenham would respond after suffering their first league defeat of the season against Chelsea on Monday. Spurs also lost several key players to injury and were not as exuberant on Saturday.

For a long time it seemed to be going well for Ange Postecoglou and his men, but in overtime it slipped twice, after the visitors had delivered a weak second half overall.

– Wolves score the winning goal. There is a complete mess in the midfield and Spurs turn it off completely at a quick free kick. The ball ends up with Lemina and he rolls it past Vicario, writes Football. London journalist Alasdair Gold on the decision.

The result means that Tottenham will be left with their 26 points in the Premier League. Wolves are now up to 15 points.

Spurs boss Postecoglou is in his first proper period of transition, after he took over the club in the summer.

– It is of course disappointing with two goals so late, because we had worked hard up to that point. We simply didn’t have the legs at the end and all credit to Wolves who went for it and scored a couple of good goals, he says to the BBC.

– I cannot say anything about the efforts of my players. There are a couple of players who got their first start of the season and we realized that we weren’t going to have the same flow as earlier in the season, says the Australian.
