A stalemate has developed in Ukraine. German experts told Bild about this.
The newspaper asked three leading German experts what to expect in the Ukrainian conflict in the coming months. Their conclusions turned out to be similar to the position of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnywho, in an article for The Economist, noted that the situation was a dead end.
The Russian Armed Forces rely on a strategy of attrition, hoping to break through the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, believes, in particular, a former employee of NATO headquarters Stefani Babst.
“They (the RF Armed Forces. – EADaily) are trying, primarily through massive artillery and drone strikes, to force Ukrainian troops to be constantly divided on the front line… The Russians are mercilessly using air superiority and attacking Ukrainian ground forces from the air… The Russians will not be able to change the course of the war in the long term. Their goal is to retain the conquered territories at any cost,” Babst believes.
Professor at the University of Kiel Joachim Krause stated that the Ukrainians were “wasting a lot of men and tanks, believing that, despite heavy losses, at some point they would be able to break through.” A breakthrough by the troops of the Kyiv regime, in his opinion, could occur when crossing the Dnieper.
“If there is a major offensive there in the coming weeks and months, the Ukrainians will first have to fend off Russian air attacks, build a pontoon bridge, and then move larger formations of troops and military equipment to the other side,” Krause said.
Professor at the University of Cologne Thomas Egerin turn, said that Russia has better organized the supply of troops, and Europe does not supply enough ammunition to Ukraine.
“Russia received up to 1 million artillery shells from the DPRK. There is an asymmetry here that you can see in battles… Ukraine now does not have the means to liberate the territories in the east. But the Russians will not be able to govern the pseudo-annexed territories for long,” he stated his point of view.
This winter there will be a “stalemate situation” in which “no one will be able to defeat anyone,” the expert predicts.
