The TON developers did not disclose from which African countries the distribution of the WEB3 wallet will begin, but said that in the first quarter of 2024 the project will work in other regions: in the Middle East, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region; in the second quarter, the crypto wallet will become available worldwide. The financial instrument integrated into the messenger is separate from the Telegram wallet already available to millions of users, which operates in a bot format.

Although the TON platform is the official messenger blockchain, it operates as a standalone protocol. Telegram Chief Investment Officer John Hyman emphasized that the messenger still plans to remain as such and does not intend to enter the cryptocurrency sector. But it will provide the TON project with the necessary tools and infrastructure to serve clients around the world.

Recently, the Toncoin coin, which serves as the official cryptocurrency TON, reached its highest price since last year, which was facilitated by the new capabilities of Telegram – the introduction of a drawing function. Today Toncoin ranks tenth in the world in terms of capitalization – it exceeds $9 billion. Last Wednesday, the token rose in price to $2.71, and soon after that, the head of Telegram Pavel Durov spent $200 thousand worth of cryptocurrency to cover the drawing of Telegram Premium subscriptions for 10 thousand users on the platform.
