The prosecutor’s office has completed the investigation into the case of 18-year-old Deborah Mihailovathe district prosecutor of Stara Zagora announced to the media Tanya Dimitrova.
“We believe that we have collected and verified the necessary evidence to prove the person’s guilt,” explained Dimitrova and pointed out that an indictment is about to be submitted to the court. She added that the presentation of the materials in the defense case has begun and is expected to be completed next week. During the investigation, numerous witnesses were questioned, expert examinations, an investigative experiment, searches and inspections were carried out.
Georgi Georgiev is accused of the attack of Deborah. A few days ago, the District Court of Stara Zagora refused to change his remand order and left him permanently in custody.

Prosecutor Dimitrova also indicated that the crime against Deborah was premeditated and there was preliminary preparation. She explained that no biological traces of the accused Georgiev were found at the scene of the accident, but sufficient evidence was collected to form the conclusion that he was the perpetrator.
According to investigators the motive for the attack is jealousy. From April to June this year there were six times threats from his side to the girl. Prosecutor Dimitrova said the charges against Georgiev were for threats to kill and coercion, as well as causing two medium bodily harms.

The attack on the 18-year-old girl was reported around 11:30 p.m. on June 26. On June 27, the accused was detained for a period of 24 hours, as at that time he was under the conditions of an already imposed “probation” sentence from January of this year. for such a crime. He was released by a decree of the District Court, after the judicial panel considered that, according to the evidence collected in the case, the crime qualifies as inflicting “slight bodily harm”. On July 31, Georgi Georgiev was detained under a permanent measure of “detention in custody” under the other pre-trial proceedings – for threatening to kill the 18-year-old girl. On August 9, the District Court in Stara Zagora confirmed the imposed remand order. The case of the girl’s abuse sparked protests across the country.
