The Russian truck manufacturer Kamaz has developed a prototype of an autonomously driving four-axle dump truck “RoboCop”.
Kamaz with wheel formula 8×4 is intended for work in mines and open quarries. The truck is equipped with a cab, which probably does not have a driver’s seat, a windshield with built-in openings for cameras, and the pillars visible near the cab are intended for sensors that will help the unmanned car navigate its surroundings.
Russian publication Motor writes that “RoboCop” will receive a diesel engine with a power of about 500 horsepower, but in terms of electronics, it is mentioned that it is still unknown which manufacturer will supply it.
In the picture posted on the Telegram platform, “RoboCop” can be seen on its way to the company’s scientific and technical center, where it will be perfected and then sent to Kemerovo for testing under real conditions in a coal mining pit.
