IsraelFour on the 9thGaza corridorThe freelance photojournalist criticized four international media outlets including the New York Times, CNN, the Associated Press and Reuters, claiming that they had been informed in advancePalestinearmed groupHamasMembers launched a cross-border attack on October 7.
Al Jazeera and POLITICO Europe reported that the pro-Israel media watchdog group “Honest Reporting”, which bills itself as a “public welfare organization” with a mission to “expose anti-Israel media bias”, published an article on its website on the 8th stating that these four freelance photojournalists appeared in Kazakhstan that day. The border area where Mars broke through raised “serious professional ethics issues.”
The article went on to allege that the presence of the four photojournalists may have been “coordinated with Hamas” and questioned whether the four cooperative media outlets “approved their presence inside enemy territory.”

The report pointed out that the most serious question raised by “Honest Reporting” is whether these photojournalists received a reminder that Hamas was planning a cross-border attack and were therefore prepared to track Hamas’s actions at close range.
After the “HonestReporting” article went online, Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi accused foreign media of hiring informants who had received tips. He posted on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter), “It has come to our attention that certain individuals within your organization, including photojournalists and others, were aware of these horrific acts in advance and may have been involved in them. The perpetrators maintained a disturbing relationship”.
Nitzan, director of the Israeli Government Information Office. Nitzan Chen also wrote to the directors of the interview offices of the four media outlets, requesting clarification on the behavior of the four photojournalists. According to reports, the letter accuses four people of arriving at the Israeli border “along with Hamas terrorists” and documenting “the murder of Israeli civilians, lynchings of soldiers and kidnappings to Gaza” and demands a response to the article’s “disturbing investigation” result”.
The New York Times, CNN, the Associated Press and Reuters all quickly issued statements strongly refuting the “Honest Reporting” report. The New York Times even stated that these “startling” accusations endanger journalists in Israel and Gaza. However, one of the freelance photojournalists, Hassan Eslaiah, was cut off from ties with the Associated Press and CNN because he was photographed taking a photo with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Israel accuses the international media of “failure to report the Hamas surprise attack”, but is it reasonable?
“When reporters rushed to the Gaza border as soon as possible, does that mean they did not report any knowledge of the Hamas raid…?” The Israeli government previously cited the doubts of non-governmental organizations and accused the Associated Press, Reuters, Four Western international media outlets, The New York Times and CNN, “failed to report” the raids launched by Hamas and even criticized reporters for standing by and watching. On November 9, the four major international media outlets firmly refuted the accusations and denied that their special reporters knew about Hamas in advance. Maas attacked on October 7 and said that journalists were just doing their jobs and that such accusations would put journalists in the field at risk. However, while the four major media outlets refuted the accusations, they also discovered that one of the reporters had a record of dealing with senior Hamas officials, and was therefore cut off by these media outlets. This move, in contrast to Israel’s doubts, subtly highlights the Ethical dilemmas in reporting in conflict zones.

Gaza’s brief respite: Why did Israel agree to a “four-hour daily ceasefire”?
“Is the pressure from international public opinion causing Israel to make concessions?” The war in Gaza has lasted for more than a month, and Israel finally agreed to a four-hour daily “humanitarian pauses” on November 9. The United States has previously called on Israel several times to suspend its bombing of Gaza to ensure the evacuation of civilians. President Biden originally demanded that Israel cease fire for at least three days to facilitate hostage release negotiations with Hamas, but at the same time, the United States still believed that ” There can be no formal ceasefire” lest Hamas take the opportunity to regroup. The flow of Gaza residents fleeing southward is still continuing. Israel’s temporary ceasefire commitment on the 9th can be regarded as a formal response to the international community’s call for a humanitarian ceasefire. It may give Gaza a short period of respite, and the United States also believes that it will help. The current stage of hostage negotiations.
