Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has declared family assets worth about Rs 59 crore and liabilities of Rs 25 crore. According to the election affidavit submitted on Thursday while filing nomination papers for the November 30 assembly elections in Telangana, K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) does not own a car.
In the affidavit, K Chandrasekhar Rao has stated that there are nine cases pending against him, which were registered during the Telangana statehood movement and he has not been convicted of any criminal act. According to Rao, the total value of movable assets in the name of his wife Shobha and HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) is more than Rs 7 crore and Rs 9 crore respectively. Shobha also has 2.81 kg of gold jewellery, diamonds and other valuables worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
Immovable property worth Rs 8.50 crore
According to the affidavit, the current market value of the immovable property in Rao’s name is around Rs 8.50 crore, while the amount of his HUF is around Rs 15 crore. According to the income tax return, Rao’s total income as of March 31, 2023, was more than Rs 1.60 crore, while it increased to Rs 1.74 crore as of March 31, 2019.

According to the affidavit, as on March 31, 2023, Rao’s wife’s income was more than Rs 8.68 lakh and he (K Chandrashekhar Rao) had received/transferred Rs 7.88 crore from the HUF. In the affidavit, Rao is shown as an agriculturist and his educational qualification is stated as BA. The Chief Minister’s HUF has many vehicles including tractors.
KT Rama Rao has total assets worth Rs 54.27 crore.
At the same time, Rao’s son and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao and his family disclosed that they have total assets worth Rs 54.27 crore in the affidavit submitted while filing nomination. According to the affidavit, Rama Rao’s wife Shailima has movable assets worth Rs 26.4 crore, which includes 4.5 kg of gold jewelery and other valuables.
Rama Rao’s wife has assets worth Rs 7.42 crore.
Similarly, the market value of Rama Rao’s immovable property has increased from Rs 1.30 crore to Rs 10.4 crore in 2018. His wife has immovable assets worth Rs 7.42 crore and his daughter has immovable assets worth Rs 46.7 lakh. According to the affidavit, Rama Rao owes Rs 67.2 lakh, while his wife owes Rs 11.2 crore. The executive chairman of BRS has declared in the affidavit that he owns a car and 100 grams of gold jewellery, while his wife owns 4.7 kg of gold jewelery and diamonds.
7 criminal cases against Rama Rao
According to the income tax return for the financial year 2022-23, Rama Rao’s total annual income was Rs 11.6 lakh, while it was Rs 1.14 crore as of March 31, 2019. Rama Rao has admitted facing seven criminal cases, which were filed during the separate Telangana statehood movement.
The BRS leader said he was convicted in a case registered in 2012 under the Railways Act. However, no punishment was given to them in this case, as the trial court extended the benefit under the provisions of the Probation of Offenders Act and all the accused were released after giving due warning. In the affidavit, Rama Rao has described himself as a ‘leader’ and ‘agriculturist’, while his wife’s profession has been shown as ‘businessman’ and ‘agriculturist’.
