The collected statistics show that after the results of October, China’s BYD takes the leading position in the world’s largest new car sales market, followed by Volkswagen and Toyota.
According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), 2.033 million new vehicles were sold in October, up 0.7 percent from a month earlier.
The domestic concern BYD performed best in October, which sold 246,389 vehicles, securing a 12.12% market share. Volkswagen is in second place with 198,210 cars and a 9.75% market share, while Toyota secured the third position with 151,003 cars sold, corresponding to a 7.43% market share.
Honda is not far behind either – 130,221 cars sold and the fourth place with a 6.41% market share, while the top five is completed by another Chinese concern – Geely, registering 92,770 cars with a 4.56% market share.
If you look at the performance of individual brands, BYD is in first place here as well. Second and third are occupied by two more Chinese brands: Wuling and Aion, and fourth and fifth place: Tesla and Volkswagen.
BYD Qin Plus, BYD Seagull and BYD Song Plus gained the most attention from Chinese buyers in October, leaving Volkswagen Lavida and Nissan Sylphy in fourth and fifth place.
